New Construction and Retrofit

Hinges are available for both new construction and renovation projects. Full surface and half surface models generally require no additional door and frame clearance. Fully concealed models require additional clearances for hinge leaves.

Standard Lengths

Hinges are manufactured for use on nominal door height. Standard hinge lengths are 79" (2007mm) for a 6'8" door, 83" (2108mm) for a 7'0" door, 95" (2413mm) for a 8'0" door and 119" (3023mm) for a 10'0" door. Hinges may be ordered at actual door height.

Standard and Heavy-Duty Model

Heavy Duty models should be specified for all high frequency and/or medium frequency heavy doors. Standard Duty models should be specified on low-medium frequency doors.

Finishes

Standard finishes are clear satin and dark bronze anodize. Gold, black and other anodize finishes are available upon request. Custom painted finishes are available upon request.

Lead Lined Doors

Hinges may be prepared for use on lead lined doors. Models 780-112, 780-224 and 780-226 should be ordered by specifying "LL".

ROTON ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATION

Door hanging system is to be Hager's ROTON Continuous Hinge manufactured of 6063-T6 anodized aluminum, non-handed and anodized as required by design. Hinges shall be manufactured of three interlocking components, two hinge leaves and one cover channel. The door leaf and jamb leaf shall be geared together for the entire length of the hinge, and joined by a cover channel. The pin less assembly of three interlocking extrusions shall be applied to the full height of the door and frame without mortising. All unexposed working metal surfaces shall be coated with TFE dry lubricant. Vertical door loads shall be carried on Lubriloyr RL beatings through a full 180" opening; no other substitute material is acceptable. Standard Duty Continuous Hinges, up to 83" (2018mm), shall have 16 each bearings: Heavy Duty and Lead Lined Duty Hinges, up to 83" (2018mm) shall have 32 each beatings. Hinges of greater length will have proportionately greater numbers of bearings. Beatings are to be completely concealed in the cover channel. Hinge cover channel is to be monolithic in appearance and withstand 7000 foot pounds of pull apart pressure. Hinges with visible knuckle separations are not acceptable. Six screw holes shall be concentrated at each end of the hinge and additional screws are proportionately spaced along the full length of the hinge. Self- Drilling (Teks Point), hardened and plated steel fasteners 12-24x%" (17mm), flat head undercut, Phillips head screws are to be furnished. All aluminum components are to be anodized in accordance with 202-R1 (AAM 12C22A31), clear or HC-II (AA-M 12C22A44), dark bronze, or as required by design. All hinges shall carry Underwriters Laboratory Inc. certification, up to and including all 90 minute applications for wood doors, as well as 3 hour applications for all fire rated hollow metal doors. Fully Concealed type hinges shall not require any special pins or studs for any type of fire ratings up to and including 90 minute hollow metal door and hollow metal frame applications. Stainless Steel studs are required for Fully Concealed models of wood door and hollow metal frames rated at 90 minutes and for 3 hour Fire Rated hollow metal doors and frames.
